Junior Competitions

Hi everyone, we're back on line and this is where you will find all the Junior Competition news.

Golf is played, for the most part, without the supervision of a referee or umpire. The game relies on the integrity of the individual to show consideration for other players and to abide by the Rules. All players should conduct themselves in a disciplined manner, demonstrating courtesy and sportsmanship at all times, irrespective of how competitive they may be. This is the spirit of the game of golf.

Don't forget to arrange your knockouts in the Peter Howliston Matchplay Trophy. There's plenty of time but try to get your games in early instead of waiting until the last moment.

Competitions and Results as we go...

They won on the countback from Tom Reid and Judith Hewison, third was Andy and Matt Robson with 23 points with debutants Stevie and Robbie Stevenson in 4th with 21 points. Thanks to everyone for taking part on such a cold evening,

15 May Stableford

The stableford competition produced some excellent scores with a terrific 47pts by Jacob Swallow taking first, Hannah Burt is improving each week and scored 44pts while Daniel Robertson and James Robson also posted sub-par scores. New handicaps are displayed on the board. Well done everyone

22May Medal

The Saturday Junior Medal played in boiling conditions was won by Matty Robson with 101 - 36 = 65 followed by James Burt 117 - 47 = 70. Well done Matty on your win. You have been pulled two shots to 34 so only one behind your brother James now! Keep up the good work everyone, good to see so many of you practising during the week and caddying for the Men's team. This will give you good experience on things like managing your way around the course and club selection. Don't always reach for the biggest club in your bag, especially on the 12th !!

29 May Four Ball Better Ball

This had insufficient entries so we replaced the competition with a stableford medal, won by Kieran Graham with 43 points. Well done Kieran but could I remind all competitors to hand in their cards, good or bad, too many no returns for this competition.

11 June Captain's Junior Prize - see notice on Junior Board to enter. 18 hole stableford with presentation of prizes on Saturday night, 12 June from 9pm. Please try to attend, dress code is smart, shirt and tie required. Winner: Jack Shorthouse 50 pts, 2nd James Tunmore 43 pts, 3rd Lewis Caseley 39 pts

19 June Medal

Won by Lewis Caseley with a net 65, good effort Lewis.

26 June Three club competition over 11 holes

There was an excellent turn out for the three club competition with parents and grandparents joining in the 11 hole fun and there were some good tales afterwards at the presentation of prizes. Many of you found you played just as well with your three clubs as you can with 14! It just shows how much we all need to think about and picture the shot before executing it! It was a very tough handicap system with half strokes allowed on the stroke holes so many players found themselves in reality only getting a quarter of their shots, because many of the low stroke holes are after the 11th! Winner on the day was Andrew Robson with 17 points from his eleven holes, with Marcus Crowe 2nd, and Neil Simpson in 3rd. Many thanks to all who stayed afterwards for the presentation and to Neil Simpson for the donation of prizes.

3 July Medal

This was held in blustery conditions but plenty of sunshine. Result: Winner James Burt - well done James!

10 July Medal - unfortuantely due to this clashing with an away league game, there were insufficient entries to adminster a full competition. However Jack Shorthouse and James Suttie have both been pulled one shot to 24 each, after gaining 39 points.

17 July Medal

This was won by Marcus Crowe with 42 points on countback from Jacob Swallow
